Professor Xie Xianqi, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, is a renowned engineering blasting expert in China and Chief Scientist of the State Key Laboratory of Precision Blasting. He currently serves as Director of the Academic Committee of Jianghan University, President of Hubei (Wuhan) Institute of Explosion and Blasting Technology, Chairman of China Society of Explosives and Blasting, Chairman of Wuhan Association for Science and Technology, as well as Director of both the Expert Committee and Standardization Technical Committee of China Society of Explosives and Blasting. He was awarded Wuhan's first Outstanding Talent title, received the 2013 Wuhan Major Scientific and Technological Contribution Award, honored with the National May 1st Labor Medal of China in 2022, and enjoys the State Council Special Allowance of China.

For over thirty years, Prof. Xie has been working at the forefront of engineering blasting, having presided over more than 500 blasting projects. Through major engineering projects, he has conducted in-depth theoretical research and technological innovation, leading his research team to achieve numerous groundbreaking results:

1.Proposing the concept of precision blasting for the first time and established its technical system, marking a new developmental stage in engineering blasting.

2. Developing several new demolition blasting technologies including multi-directional and multi-stage folding for high-rise structures, directional collapse with mid-air disintegration for tall buildings, single-sequence continuous collapse for large urban viaducts, and single simultaneous demolition for large building clusters.

3.Directing several internationally influential demolition blasting projects that significantly advanced China's demolition blasting technology. Representative projects include: the emergency demolition of the 18-story tilted building at Qiaoyuan Xincun in Wuhan (1995); the demolition of Wuhan Waitan Garden complex (2002); the bidirectional folding demolition of a 100m reinforced concrete chimney in Yangluo, Wuhan (2003); the bidirectional triple-folding demolition of two high-rise buildings in Wuhan Wangjiadun CBD (2007); the single-blast demolition of the 3.5km Chunyang Viaduct (2013); the directional collapse with mid-air disintegration demolition of the 20-story Yin Feng Hotel in Wuhan (2014); the Optics Valley Square complex blasting in Wuhan (2016); the single simultaneous demolition of 19 buildings in Wuhan Hankou Binjiang International Business District (2017); and the demolition of Wuhan Jiangtian Plaza (2018).

By systematically conducting fundamental theoretical research and key technology development through major engineering projects, he has achieved a series of scientific accomplishments. He has published works including Precision Blasting, Numerical Simulation and Application of Demolition Blasting, Precision Blasting Demolition of Urban Viaducts, and Destabilization Mechanisms and Precision Control in Directional Blasting of High-Rise Structures. As the primary contributor, he has won two Second Prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, one Special Prize and seven First Prizes at provincial/ministerial level, making significant contributions to the advancement of engineering blasting technology.
